Hala Bissada, President & CEO, will be launching a new Ryerson University course entitled Applied Event Planning and Management in September 2012. This course will give students the knowledge, skills and experience to execute simple to highly complex events and fundraisers. Theoretical training, including lectures, group discussions, guest speakers and case studies will be used. In addition, students will receive hands on practical training by executing an actual major event. The course will cover concept development, the strategic plan, sponsorship/sales, volunteer management, marketing and public relations, production (technical, décor, entertainment), logistics, evaluation tools and crisis and risk management. Candidates for the program must have an undergraduate degree, college diploma or a minimum of 1 year full-time experience in the field as a professional or equivalent volunteer experience (to be evaluated by the instructor and program administrator).
